7 Things to Look for When Hiring a Caterer for Your Corporate Lunch

Whether you’re hosting a lunch for a client meeting, throwing an employee recognition party, or meeting for a lunch and learn, here are a few things you’ll want to consider when hiring a caterer for your corporate lunch.

  1. Understand who you’ll be serving
When it comes to catering, one of the first steps in planning your event is knowing your audience.  Consider if members of your team are coming from out of town and need lunch during the meeting, or if you’re planning to serve lunch during your company anniversary party.  Keep who you are catering for at the forefront of your event.
  1. Decide where the lunch will be held
Not only do you have to consider if the venue space will accommodate the number of attendees, it’s important to keep in mind a location that has access to a kitchen for food preparation.
  1. Review food options
Prior to your event, ask your caterer for menu options and if they can provide a tasting.  Also ask your caterer if they accommodate individuals with food allergies, dietary restrictions, or lifestyle choices.
  1. Map out how much food to order
Know the menu,  you will need to determine how much food is needed to serve all attendees.  Once you have a final headcount, notify your caterer of the guest count so they know how much food to provide.
  1. Determine the number of staff needed
Depending upon how many attendees you’ll be serving, you’ll want to discuss with your caterer the number of staff needed for your event.  For buffet-styled events, you might not need as many servers, but sit down luncheons may require additional servers.
  1. Imagine the flow of the space
Before setting up for the event, design a space layout concept to determine where your guests will spend most of their time during the event, whether it be held in a main-room, patio deck, or in the foyer of the venue.   With these things in mind, be sure to plan out the best spots in the venue to set up food and beverage stations. Avoid setting up the food where there’s bound to be heavy foot traffic, like in main entrances, and opt for putting food and drinks toward the back of the venue.
  1. Finalize services and goods provided
Not only do you want to consider your food options, but you also want to take into consideration logistics and details like style options for table settings, bartending services, or how last-minute requests will be managed.Hosting a corporate lunch can increase productivity, creates a relaxed environment where coworkers can bond, and shows your employees appreciation for their hard work.  At BG Events & Catering, our team of experts can help you plan your corporate lunch from start to finish.
